Tingley Athletic U 7 0
Glen Juniors U7 Greens 5

After several impressive performances at summer galas, Glen made their first trip to Tingley's magnificent Crescent complex.
The green team was chomping at the bit and Liam Ormsby put them one up straight from the kick-off. Moments later Matthew Clegg intercepted and picked out Ormsby who blasted in his second.

Harrison Smith showed versatility getting down the right an
d, when the ball was lost, tracking back and after making a defensive clearance at the foot of his own post he turned scorer to make it 3-0. Clegg then added a fourth before the break.

The one-way traffic continued in the second period, but Tingley showed stubborn resistance to everything thrown at them and only one more goal was added when Elliot Horsley netted after latching on to a mis-kick to drive an unstoppable shot past the keeper.

Glen came close on several occasions, most notably as Max Wilkinson rippled the side netting and Nathan Kershaw hit the post from far out. It was a good display as the Morley side set themselves a high standard for the season ahead. Liam Ormsby was man of the match, grabbing a brace and showing a great range of passing ability that brought others into the game.

Tingley Athletic U7 0
Glen Juniors U7 Yellows 3

Tingley fielded the same side as in the first game, but found the Yellows in equally determined mood to get off to a winning start.

In a replica of the first goal of the first game Alfie Mitchell followed Ormsby's example and got forward and his shot was redirected by Daniel McKenna who wrong footed the keeper to put Glen in the lead.

McKenna grew in confidence and had a long shot saved. He turned provider next making a clever pass to Mitchell who was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Mitchell and Mckenna took control of the game and Alfie played Daniel in to scored his second.

It was then Mitchell's turn to net and make it 3-0 when his powerful shot was too strong for the keeper who dropped the ball over the line.
McKenna was unlucky not to get his first ever hat-trick when denied by the keeper early in the second half and Glen were unable to add to their lead, although they continued to play well with impressive displays from debutant Daniel Mills and Alex Mills.

Leon Stephenson made a strong run up field after James Ackers had brought the ball out of defence. Alfie Mitchell and Daniel McKenna passed well and showed the start of a promising midfield partnership. Harrison Pawlec replaced Stephenson and made some good tackles.
Jamie Haines was largely untroubled throughout and an encouraging performance ended with a 3-0 victory for the Yellow team.
