BABES In The Wood booked their place in the Morley Cup Final with Morley Town when they trounced Luddites FC 8-0 on Thursday night.
Danny Barton led the way with five goals while Paul Appleyard struck twice and Dave Ward completed the rout.

David Nebard's team, unbeaten in their four group games, remained hot favourites to take the trophy ahead of the final which was scheduled
to take place at Glen Road last night.

Morley Town suffered a setback on Tuesday night, going down 4-2 against New Farnley CC, but they finished on top of Group A as it went down to goal difference and then goals scored.

Both teams finished on seven points, a goal difference of +3, but it was Eddie Green's side who held their nerve and had a big sigh of relief at the final whistle going through in the end by the skin of their teeth after scoring one more goal over their nearest rivals.

Sean Louw (two) and Liam Connelly (two) were on target for New Farnley with Simon Green and Jermaine Savery replying.

Babes in The Wood also finished on top of their group on goal difference after finishing level on 10 points from four games with Townhouse Morley who won their last game 4-3 against old rivals Cross Keys.

Jay Carver put Cross Keys in front in Wednesday night's game, pouncing on an error when Paul Carney made a right pig's ear of his clearance inside the first 10 minutes. The same player was penalised for a shove in the back so up stepped Danny Newton who made no mistake with the resulting free-kick from almost 30 yards out to make it 2-0.

Referee Glen Taylor threatened to abandon the game when Rob Sayer pulled a goal back with a glancing header from a Bob Oates long throw when the Keys manager insisted it was taken from the wrong place. John Mawn was eventually persuaded away by Chris Dalby to take his place near the little house on the prairie for the remainder.

An acrobatic overhead kick by Sayer brought the scores level and the midfield general completed his hat-rick just after the break as he bundled the ball over the line with a touch of handball.

Substitute Mark Earnshaw played to the whistle and made it for 4-2 as Keys were appealing in vain for offside and Keys' frustration continued when Gary Noble had the perfect opportunity to get them back into the game from the penalty spot only for Antony Miller to pull off a great save.

Another silly free-kick was given away in a dangerous position and Mathew Mawn was left unmarked at the far post with a simple header, but it turned out to be a mere consolation goal as Townhouse ran out worthy winners.
