Leeds weekend weather forecast: Heavy rain to batter city as restaurants and pubs rely on outdoors

Leeds is going to be battered by rain this weekend according to the Met Office forecast.

Following a drier evening on Friday, heavy rain is set to fall from around 7am on Saturday.

It will be a wet day across the city as it continues to pour right through the afternoon, evening and into the early hours of Sunday morning.

The rest of Sunday is forecast to be drier, with a much smaller chance of rain throughout the day - likely to be far more welcomed by outdoor diners and pub go-ers.

There will be highs of around 13C on Saturday and 16C across Sunday.

Sunset is at 8.47pm on Friday, 8.49pm on Saturday and 8.51pm on Sunday.

The Met Office forecast in full:

Friday: After a chilly start, it will be another day of sunshine and showers. The showers will be heavy at times, with the risk of hail and thunder. The showers may turn a little wintry at times over higher ground. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Friday night: Any showers should gradually ease during the evening to leave most places dry with some clear spells overnight. Turning chilly, with patchy frost and fog in some prone rural spots. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Saturday: After a dry start, rain will arrive from the south by mid-morning and spread northwards across all parts during the afternoon. Windy, with local gales possible. Rain turning showery later. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: A band of showery rain moving slowly southeast on Sunday. Staying unsettled into next week with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy and possibly thundery at times.
