Leeds summer school success

The delegation of 30 people from Taizhou University arrived in June for the three-month summer school at Leeds Business School at Leeds Beckett University.

The programme aimed to help them gain fundamental level knowledge and grounding in business which will help inform their teaching back home.

The Chinese participants studied areas including business context, business management and marketing; attended industry visits and were taken on cultural trips to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, York, Haworth and the Lake District.

Freeman Wu, the leader of the Taizhou University delegation, said: “This summer school is the first step in the cooperation between our two universities, and it turns out to be very fruitful. I feel so grateful for all the staff here at Leeds Beckett and I look forward to further cooperation in the near future.”

In another first for the university, Leeds Beckett has also played host to students from Bangladesh in a similar scheme.

A delegation of Master of Business Administration (MBA) and International Business students from the University of Dhaka visited for two weeks in July.

The guests were all mature students in high-level positions in the banking, finance and real estate sectors and attended to compare business and economic policy in the UK and Bangladesh.

Delegates received masterclass sessions on a range of topics including the implications on international business operations after Brexit.
