Ambulance called after two men get stuck near The Calls in Leeds

A man was taken to hospital after getting stuck on a ledge near the River Aire.

Two men were rescued from the ledge shortly after 11pm on Thursday, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) described it as a "medical incident".

"We dispatched our Hazardous Area Response Team, an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene," a spokeswoman said.

One of the men was taken to St James's Hospital.

A WYFRS spokeswoman said: "Crews from Leeds and Hunslet attended.

"Two males were rescued from a ledge near the river and left with YAS."

The incident came to an end shortly after midnight.
