RESIDENTS from Thorpe to Drighlington are being encouraged to take action to reduce litter and spruce-up their neighbourhoods.
Leeds City Council is urging community groups, individuals, families and local businesses to get involved in local clean-up events as part of The Big Tidy Up Campaign, the country's biggest ever clean up.

d see their efforts rewarded if they enter the Community and City Pride Awards, which recognise and celebrate public contribution to looking after the environment.
Shortlisted groups will be invited to the gala dinner in the Civic Hall hosted by special guest BBC Look North weatherman, Paul Hudson, where they could win a £300 cash prize.
Coun Steve Smith, executive board member for environmental services, said: "We want to encourage, recognise and reward people who take action to make improvements to the environment and we welcome community campaigns like this.
"As a council we have a commitment to ensuring high standards for our environment and know that with the support of residents we can make a major difference – making our city cleaner and greener and engendering a sense of community pride."
