LEE Gap Fair enjoyed one of the biggest turn outs in years when around 4,000 people flocked to West Ardsley on bank holiday Monday.
The chairman of the Lee Fair Committee, Coun Tom Leadley (MBI, Morley North) said it was the second biggest turn out they had seen since the fair moved to its current site off Baghill Road in 1995.

"We even had to shut the gates for an hour because we had run out of parking spaces," he said. "So it went reasonably well."

A smaller crowd is expected for Latter Lee, which is to be held at the same place on Wednesday, September 17.

The two fair dates mark the start and end of a fair that once lasted for three weeks and three days and drew people from across Europe to trade in livestock, wool and much more.
