Sports centre row rumbles on
Published Date:

MY family and I live in Drighlington and have used Morley sports centre for many years.
My three children have all had swimming/diving and gymnastics lessons and my daughter is still in the swimming programme.
We have always been committed to sports and fitness and believe it to be a vital part of life.
The closure of Morley sports centre and the downgrading of facilites is really bad for future generations. Young people need to develop an interest in health and fitness as early as possible in life.
The absence of a swimming pool in Morley will result in the next generation of young children being unable to swim - a must-have life saving skill.
Many parents are unable to get their children to other sports centres and many of these are already over subscribed with no places available.
Morley sports centre is a thriving hub of activity and the staff are excellent.
This closure will be a huge loss to our local community, which deserves better.
