Days Out: Calypso Cove, Barnsley
The weather may still be a little on the wet and wild side, but for a totally tropical experience set sail for the south of the county and discover Barnsley’s hidden treasure – Calypso Cove.
This island paradise is situated just five minutes from the Barnsley Interchange so it makes for an easily accessible family holiday out.

Hide AdWith a treasure trove of sensational slides, fantastic flumes and wonderful waves this island paradise screams fun and little ones can find their sea legs early on by climbing aboard the Sunken Galleon or racing their friends in Splash Ahoy and see that appearances aren’t all that they seem by befriending the Kraken.
However, the more seasoned buccaneers in the group can take on true thrill rides, Terror Torrent and Eruption.
Terror Torrent is as dark as Davy Jones’ locker and one of the UK’s fastest indoor flumes and the lily-livered should look away now, as Eruption takes riders into the belly of volcano before spewing them out into the waiting pool below.
Toddlers are catered for too, the shallow depths of Coconut Creek are a great place for beginners to build their confidence in the water, without missing out on the fun.
